Die Veranstaltung richtet sich vornehmlich an Studierende der Umweltwissenschaften (z.T. aus dem Diplomstudiengang "GSU", z.T. auch BSc-Studierende der Umweltwissenschaften).
Den Studierenden soll ein Überblick über das Privatrecht gegeben werden, insbesondere über die ersten vier Bücher des Bürgerlichen Gesetzbuches. Gegenstände der Veranstaltung werden etwa der Abschluss und die Wirksamkeit eines Vertrags, Störungen in vertraglichen Beziehungen, besondere Vertragstypen (z.B. Kauf-, Werk- und Dienstvertrag) sowie die Grundzüge des Sachenrechts (Erwerb von Eigentum) sein. An gegebenen Stellen soll auch versucht werden, auf besondere Probleme in Verbindung mit dem Umweltsektor einzugehen (z.B. Kauf eines kontaminierten Grundstücks).
