In diesem Seminar sollen ausgewählte Fragestellungen zur Geographie Nordafrikas in teils länderübergreifender, teils staatenspezifischer Sichtweise dargestellt und reflektiert werden. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Strukturen und Prozesse der Humangeographie, soweit sie für diesen Raum prägend sind. U.a. sind die folgenden Themenkreise vorgesehen:
1. Morphologische Großformen in Nordafrika
2. Das Klima von Nordafrika
3. Die Sahara - eine Wendekreiswüste
4. Geschichte von Nordafrika - Das Erbe des Kolonialismus
5. Die orientalische Stadt
6. Landwirtschaft im Wandel: Das Beispiel Ägypten
7. Wasserversorgung und Bewässerung
8. Oasen im Wandel
9. Marokko, Tunesien und Ägypten - neue Trends im Tourismus
10.Wirtschaftliche und politische Neuorientierung in Libyen
