In der Veranstaltung "Empirische Methoden I" lernen die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer elementare Methoden der Bearbeitung linguistischer Fragestellungen anhand von ausgewählten Fallbeispielen und Übungsaufgaben kennen. Linguistische Beschreibungs- und Analysetechniken werden in drei Themenschwerpunkten behandelt.
Der Themenschwerpunkt "deskriptive Linguistik" befaßt sich u.a. mit
- Sammlung und Dokumentation von sprachlichen Materialien
- Grundkategorien der verschiedenen linguistischen Beschreibungsebenen
- grundlegenden Techniken der Korpusanalyse
- Hilfsmitteln für Forschung, Evaluation und Präsentation
Der Themenschwerpunkt "empirische Linguistik" befasst sich u.a. mit
- systematischer Beobachtung als empirischem Grundprinzip
- Objektivität, Reliabilität und Validität empirischer Daten
- gebräuchlichen Verfahren der Datenerhebung
- Problemen der Operationalisierung und des Skalenniveaus von Daten
Der Themenschwerpunkt "quantitative Datenanalyse" befasst sich u.a. mit
- Möglichkeiten der Darstellung numerischer Daten
- statistischen Kennwerten der zentralen Tendenz (Mittelwerte)
- statistischen Kennwerten der Dispersion (Streuungswerte)
- Maßen für den Zusammenhang von Messwertreihen
6 Leistungspunkte (für Teilnahme, Übungsaufgaben und Projektarbeit)
