Nach wie vor ist Max Webers Werk in diversen Aspekten grundlegend für die heutige Soziologie. Es wird daher zum Gegenstand eines Lektürekurses gemacht. Dabei werden u.a. folgende Themen behandelt:

  • Wissenschaft und Werturteilsfreiheit
  • Sozialwissenschaft als Kulturwissenschaft
  • Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus
  • Die sozialen Ursachen des Untergangs der antiken Kultur
  • Das Konzept der Verstehenden Soziologie
  • Die Theorie der Moderne
  • Die Typen der Herrschaft
  • Der moderne Staat
  • Soziologie der Stadt
