Die Vorlesung "Angewandte Mathematik für Chemiker" ist der 2. Teil der Mathematik-Pflichtveranstaltung. Diese Vorlesung kann im 2. oder im 4. Semester gehört werden. Es wird empfohlen, die Lehrveranstaltung "Datenverarbeitung in der Chemie" (21 10 16) parallel zu besuchen.
Aufbauend auf dem Stoff des 1. Teiles ("Mathematik für Chemiker" im 1. Semester) werden weitere Kenntnisse vermittelt, die für die Anwendung der Mathematik auf chemische Fragestellungen wichtig sind.
Zum Stoffumfang gehören:
Theorie der Differentialgleichungen (Systematik, gewöhnliche und partielle Differentialgleichungen, lineare Differentialgleichungssysteme, Rand- und Eigenwertprobleme),
Gruppentheorie (Punktgruppen [hpts.] und Raumgruppen),
Einführung in Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie und Statistik.
