Auch wenn es der deutsche Sprachgebrauch etwas verschleiert, ist der politische Liberalismus (political liberalism) keine Position, über die im politischen und theoretischen Diskurs unserer Gegenwart gestritten wird, sondern eher das grundlegende Selbstverständnis, mit dem man in unserem Kulturkreis heutzutage an politische Probleme generell herangeht. In dieser Veranstaltung soll es zuerst um eine Klärung dieses Selbstverständnisses anhand eines Durchgangs seiner philosophischen Entstehungsgeschichte gehen (grob: von Hobbes bis Rawls und Nozick). Im Anschluss daran erhalten verschiedene Kritiker des Liberalismus das Wort, die es trotz seiner zeitgenössischen Prominenz natürlich gibt.
Für eine Leistungsbescheinigung im BA-Studiengang werden mehrere kleine Beiträge, die zum Semesterbeginn erläutert werden, für einen Leistungsnachweis in allen anderen Studiengängen wird eine schriftliche Hausarbeit erwartet.

Die Kursliteratur wird zu Beginn des Semesters in Form eines Readers zum Selbstkostenpreis sowie als Kopiervorlage zur Verfügung gestellt.
