General:
Lectures within the framework of the International Graduate School ?Quantum Fields and Strongly Interacting Matter?, but open to everyone. Delivered in English. Intended for finishing undergraduate and beginning graduate students (7th-9th semesters).
Abstract:
This course aims at an elementary and practical introduction to:
Spin models in statistical physics;
?Lattice? models relevant for quantum field theory;
Analytical approaches using perturbative techniques;
Numerical simulations via Monte Carlo integration;
Universality and approach to the continuum limit;
Inclusion of gauge fields and fermions;
Modern applications in particle physics.
