Die Kenntnisse entwicklungspsychologischer Grundlagen für Erziehung und Unterricht ist für jede Art von Erziehung und Unterricht unverzichtbar: Es werden die Gründe dafür gelegt, warum Kinder in einem bestimmten Alter so und nicht anders sind. Der Umgang mit Heterogenität kann dabei genauso gelernt werden wie der Umgang mit Homogenität.
In der Veranstaltung wird neben einem eher grundlegenden, systematischen Werk des Veranstalters insbesondere ein neueres Werk von Bee & Boyd, "The Developing Child", 10. Auflage, 2003, zugrunde gelegt, das neueste Forschungsergebnisse der Entwicklungspsychologie Praxis bezogen zusammenfasst.
