Begleitend zur Überblicksvorlesung über die Besonderheiten der russischen Geschichte sollen in dieser Übung ausgewählte Quellentexte zur russischen Geschichte besprochen werden. Die in englischer bzw. auch in russischer und deutscher Sprache vorliegenden Quellen beziehen sich vorwiegend auf die unter Peter I. eingeleitete Verwestlichung, die Reformpolitik von Katharina II., sowie die großen Reformen ab Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Besuch der Übung ist auch als Vorbereitung auf eine Prüfung zur Vorlesung geeignet.Im Rahmen des Bachelor-Studiums bilden Vorlesung und Übung ein Epochenmodul.
