Diese Veranstaltung wendet sich an Studierende, die an der Fakultät für Soziologie promovieren oder dies vorhaben, und fortgeschrittene Studierende in der Studienabschlußphase des Diploms. Geboten wird ein Überblick über wichtige Stationen der geschlechtertheoretischen Entwicklung, bis hin zu aktuellen Diskussionen. Anhand ausgewählter Themenbereiche wird ferner deutlich gemacht, daß Theorieentwicklung und empirische Erforschung der Geschlechterverhältnisse eng miteinander verbunden sind. Um auch internationalen Studierenden Gelegenheit zur aktiven Teilnahme zu geben, werden Anteile des Seminars auch in englischer Sprache stattfinden. Deutschsprachige Studierende werden ausdrücklich ermuntert, sich zu beteiligen. Auf Literaturvorschläge der Teilnehmenden kann eingegangen werden. Die Einladung interessant erscheinender auswärtiger Gäste zu Vortrag und Diskussion ist möglich.
Der Erwerb von Leistungsnachweisen (Hauptstudium, Nebenfach, Promotionsstudium) ist möglich, aber nicht Bedingung. Das Seminar kann auch zur präziseren Abklärung der eigenen Forschungsfrage für die Promotion genutzt werdne.

This seminar invites students preparing or writing their Ph.D. thesis at the dep. of sociology, as well as advanced students who will soon terminate their diploma in sociology. The seminar will provide an overview on relevant stages of the development of gender theory, including most recent debates. Selected areas of research will exemplify that developments in the theory and empirical research on gender relations have always been closely linked. To prepare international students a chance for effective participation, parts of the seminar will be in English. German speaking students are explicitly encouraged to participate as well in the English speaking parts. Reading by students welcome. Invitations of interesting guests for lectures and discussions possible.
Credits a available for a selected variety of curricula, yet not compulsory. The seminar may be used to clarify distinguish research questions fort the prospective Ph.D. projects as well.
