Absicht des Seminars ist es, wichtige neue Beiträge zur Frage der Moralbegründung aufzunehmen und kritisch zu diskutieren. Die Begründungsversuche, die ich zur Diskussion stellen möchte, gründen sich auf die Vorstellung von Verträgen zwischen den Individuen (Scanlon), auf die Vorstellung einer gesellschaftlichen Wahl (Copp) oder auf das Recht der Individuen auf Rechtfertigung dessen, was ihnen angetan wird. Leitend für das Seminar soll aber, wegen ihrer Klarheit und Gründlichkeit, die Untersuchung von Peter Stemmer sein, und die anderen Texte werden teils als Alternativen, teils als Weiterführungen von Stemmers Überlegungen in die Diskussion einbezogen.
