Der Begriff "Sexismus" bezeichnet Vorurteile und Diskriminierung von Personen auf der Grundlage ihres Geschlechts. Im Seminar werden sozialpsychologische Ansätze und Forschungsarbeiten zu diesem Thema behandelt, u.a. zu folgenden Aspekten: Inhalt, Entstehung und Aufrechterhaltung von Geschlechtsstereotypen; Verhaltenskonsequenzen von Geschlechtsstereotypen bei wahrnehmender Person und Zielperson; ambivalenter Sexismus; sexuelle Belästigung und sexuelle Gewalt.
Empfohlen für Studierende der Psychologie im Hauptstudium sowie für Studierende mit Psychologie als Nebenfach im Hauptstudium. Obwohl die aktuelle Prüfungsordnung keine Leistungsnachweise in den Fächern der "Forschungsorientierten Vertiefung" vorsieht, wird von allen Teilnehmenden die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme erwartet; diese schließt das wöchentliche Studium englischsprachiger Originalarbeiten sowie die Beteiligung an Diskussionen ein.
