Die Übung dient der Einführung in die Gegenstände und in alle relevanten Arbeitsmittel der Lateinischen Philologie (wissenschaftliche Textausgaben, Textdatenbanken, Kommentare, Bibliographien, Lexika, Handbücher, Zeitschriften) sowie der Vermittlung ihrer grundlegenden wissenschaftlichen Arbeitstechniken und Arbeitsmethoden. Die erworbenen Kenntnisse werden anhand praktischer Übungen (Bibliographieren, Recherchieren, Lesen und Erklären von textkritischen Apparaten etc.) gefestigt und vertieft. Darüber hinaus dient die Übung der Vermittlung aller relevanten Aspekte zum Abfassen wissenschaftlicher Hausarbeiten (Form, Aufbau, Forschungsüberblicke, Umgang mit Sekundärliteratur, Zitate und Zitierweisen etc.).
