This course is an introduction to environmental ethics. We will discuss such issues as which kinds of entities have moral status (human beings, non-human animals, ecosystems, etc.), whether nature has intrinsic value, and the role that economics should play in our thinking about the environment.
To receive credit, students will be required to write brief answers to weekly questions on the readings and to take a final exam.
The course will be conducted in English.
