Speziell für das 2. Semester des Studiengangs Molekulare Biotechnologie soll angewandte Mathematik an Beispielen aus der Biotechnologie betrieben werden. Da viele Beispiele nur numerisch zugänglich sind, wird eine kurze Einführung in eine Basisversion von Fortran gegeben. Der Name der Lehrveranstaltung rührt daher, daß Stoff- und Wärmebilanzen die Ansätze zur Modellierung von Aufarbeitungs- und Kultivierungsprozessen liefern. Der zu vermittelnde Stoff entstammt hauptsächlich der linearen Algebra (Matrizenrechnung, lineare und nichtlineare Regression) und der Differential- und Integralrechnung (gewöhnliche Differentialgleichungen, numerische Lösungsmethoden, einfache partielle Differentialgleichungen).
