Das Seminar führt in grundlegende Modelle der statistischen und klinischen Diagnostik ein. Die im wesentlichen von Meehl (1954) ausgelöste Kontroverse (klinische versus statistische Diagnostik) soll anhand einiger klassischer Studien diskutiert werden. Daran anknüpfend werden Strategien zur Optimierung von Verhaltensvorhersagen besprochen. Schließlich soll versucht werden, den Nutzen und die Kosten verschiedener Modelle im Rahmen entscheidungstheoretischer Überlegungen zu bewerten.
