Die Veranstaltung richtet sich in erster Linie an Studienanfänger, kann aber auch höheren Semestern Zusammenhänge verdeutlichen und Handwerkszeug vermitteln.
Es geht nicht um die Vermittlung von Detail-Wissen zur Lösung von Fällen wie in den Grundkursen, sondern um Fragen wie:
Was ist Recht?
Welche Aufgaben haben Rechtswissenschaft (Jurisprudenz) und Rechtsprechung (Jurisdiktion) bzw. Juristen ganz allgemein?
Was sind Grundlagenfächer und wozu das Ganze?
Es werden zudem einige wichtige Aspekte der Methodenlehre wie die Bedeutung von Sprache und Auslegung thematisiert. Abschließend soll versucht werden, gemeinsam über Gerechtigkeit nachzudenken.
