Gegenstand des Seminars ist der Gedanke einer konstitutiven Geschichtlichkeit, also der Gedanke, daß Geschichte nicht etwas ist, was jemand bloß hat oder was sich an ihm abspielt, sondern was ihn ausmacht. Dieser Gedanke, oder Varianten von ihm, hat im 20. Jahrhundert in verschiedenen Gebieten, in der Philosophie, insbesondere der Geschichtsphilosophie, in der Literaturtheorie, aber auch etwa in der Pädagogik, große Bedeutung gewonnen. Ziel des Seminars ist es, einige dieser Konzeptionen im Detail auseinanderzulegen und ihre Tragfähigkeit zu prüfen. Besprochen werden Texte von Heidegger, H. Arendt, Schapp, Ricoeur, H. White und anderen.
