Medienkompetenz und Medienbildung haben sich in den letzten Jahren zu Schlüsselbegriffen der Medienpädagogik entwickelt. Daneben werden sie auch in Wirtschaft und Politik gerne und ganz selbstverständlich benutzt. Was aber mit den Begriffen (und den dahinter stehenden Konzepten) genau gemeint ist, bleibt oft unhinterfragt. Für Studierende, die zukünftig in einem medienpädagogischen Arbeitsfeld arbeiten möchten, ist es unerlässlich zu wissen, was mit Medienkompetenz und Medienbildung gemeint ist, weil mit ihnen ganz bestimmte Menschenbilder, Zielwerte und Handlungsstrategien verbunden sind, die weitreichende Folgen für Theorie und Praxis haben.
