Simulationsverfahren fuer Systeme mit vielen Freiheitsgraden finden vielfaeltigen Einsatz nicht nur in der Physik sondern auch in anderen natur- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Bereichen. In diesem Seminar sollen grundlegende numerische Verfahren sowie deren Anwendungen diskutiert werde.

Zur Berechnung thermodynamischer Observablen eines statistischen Systems muss die Zustandssumme bzw. ihre Ableitungen ausgewertet werden. Dies ist haeufig nur numerisch moeglich. Fuer sehr grosse Systeme koennen nicht alle Zustaende beruecksichtigt werden, vielmehr muss eine repraesentative Stichprobe aus dem Phasenraum gezogen werden. In dem Seminar sollen verschiedene Methoden zum effektiven Sampeln des Phasenraums diskutiert werden, moegliche Inhalte sind:

  • Simulationsverfahren: Monte-Carlo, hybrid Monte-Carlo, Quanten Monte Carlo
  • Methoden zur Analyse von Phasenuebergaengen und kritischen Verhalten
  • Markov Prozesse, Langevin Prozesse, Focker-Planck Gleichung
  • Gruppenintegrale, duale (Fluss) Variablen, Wurm-Algorithmen
  • Umgewichtung, Wang-Landau sampling
  • Anwendung von Methoden der Statistischen Physik auf komplexe Netzwerke, soziale und biologische Systeme, Finanzmaerkte
