Inter- und Transdisziplinarität ist für Geschlechterforschung von zentraler Bedeutung. Doch auch wenn sie für das Selbstverständnis vieler Geschlechterforscher_innen kostitutiv ist, so bestehen doch recht unterschiedliche Vorstellungen, was genau Inter- und Transdiszilinarität meint und welche Rolle sie bei der Institutionalisierung von Geschlechterforschung spielen soll. Im ersten Schritt werden wir uns deshalb mit unterschiedlichen Konzepten der Inter- und Transdisziplinarität beschäftigen. Diese in erster Linie programmatischen Texte sollen in einem zweiten Schritt mit Beispielen aus der Forschung konfrontiert werden. Ausgehend von einem Beispiel, der empirischen Forschung zu Familien, soll diskutiert werden, was eine inter- und transdisziplinäre Untersuchung von disziplinären Untersuchungen unterscheidet.
