In der Veranstaltung werden spätmittelalterliche Quellen übersetzt, die Verfahrensweisen der spätmittelalterlichen Kirche im Umgang mit Normverstößen thematisieren. Unter anderem geht es um die kirchliche Behandlung solcher Christen, die schwere Sünden wie Totschlag oder Ehebruch begangen hatten. Welchen Zwängen waren Christen ausgesetzt? Welche Formen der Wiedergutmachung und Versöhnung bot die Kirche an?

Grundkenntnisse in Latein, die mindestens einem ca. dreijährigen Schulunterricht entsprechen.
In der Veranstaltung geht es darum, den Umgang mit mittelalterlichen lateinischen Quellen zu üben, nicht gänzlich neue Sprachkenntnisse zu erwerben.

Da es in der Veranstaltung darum geht, den Umgang mit lateinischen Quellen zu üben und Besonderheiten zu diskutieren, ist es notwendig, dass die Teilnehmenden an den einzelnen Sitzungen tatsächlich aktiv teilnehmen.
Im Laufe des Semesters muss jeder Teilnehmende eine gemeinsam erstellte Übersetzung schriftlich und mündlich präsentieren.
Für die benotete Einzelleistung ist die schriftliche Präsentation einer Übersetzung nach Maßgabe der Veranstalterin abzuliefern. Abgabefrist ist der 3. April 2012.
