Zellbiologische Erkrankungen lassen sich zwei Typen von Erkrankungen unterscheiden: Neoplastische Erkrankungen mit erhöhter Zellteilung ( Krebs) und Erkrankungen mit erhöhtem Zelltod (z.B. Neurordegenerationen wie Alzheimer, Parkinson etc.).In der Verlesung werden die verschiedenen Krankheiten vorgestellt und das übergreifende Konzept der somatischen und Tumorstammzellen vorgestellt. Dabei wird ein Konzept von der Zelle bis zur Molekurabiologie der Signaltransduktion an ausgewählten Beispielen diskutiert. Ein Schwerpunkt ist dabei auch die regnerative Medizin durch Stammzellen und andere Konzepte der Zelltherapie.
