Die genannten Schulen, die erst jüngst wieder ihren Namen gewechselt haben, stellen die Keimzelle und den Kern des deutschen Sonderschulsystems dar. Zwei Drittel der sonderpädagogisch Geförderten gehören in ihre Zuständigkeit. Die genannten Schulen stehen nicht nur in enger Verbindung untereinander, sondern auch zur Grundschule, aus der sie ihre Schülerschaft rekrutieren. Dieser systemische Zusammenhang und die Entwicklung der genannten Schulen werden im Seminar kritisch in den Blick genommen.
