Die Politikfeldanalyse, als Subdisziplin der Politikwissenschaft, fragt danach, was politische Akteure tun, warum sie es tun, und was sie letztlich damit bewirken. Ihr Gegenstand ist die materielle, inhaltliche Politik – ob Familien-, Verkehrs- oder Klimapolitik.
Die Übung „Public Policy“ führt in die Grundbegriffe, die wichtigsten theoretischen und konzeptionellen Zugänge sowie Methoden der Politikfeldanalyse ein. Sie thematisiert Besonderheiten der institutionellen Arrangements, Akteurskonstellationen sowie Problemstellungen und Policy-Instrumente in unterschiedlichen Politikfeldern. Anhand beispielhafter thematischer Vertiefungen werden z.B. die folgenden Fragestellungen verfolgt: Welche Konzepte gibt es, um Policies in verschiedenen Politikfeldern zu analysieren? Machen die Besonderheiten von Politikfeldern einen Unterschied? Welche Interessen und Akteure sind hier relevant? Und welche Faktoren befördern oder beschränken allgemein politische Reformen?
Im späteren Verlauf der Übung vertiefen die Studierenden ausgewählte Fragestellungen und theoretisch-konzeptionelle Zugänge im Rahmen einer Projektarbeit.
