Seit 1987 bietet die Universität Bielefeld das wissenschaftliche Weiterbildungsprogramm "Studieren ab 50" für
interessierte Bürgerinnen und Bürger der Region an. Die Teilnahme an dem Programm ist ohne Vorqualifikationen (z.B. Abitur) möglich. Aus über 350 Veranstaltungen an 12 Fakultäten können die
Teilnehmer*innen frei wählen und ihren ganz persönlichen Studienplan zusammenstellen. In diesen
Veranstaltungen lernen die Studierenden ab 50 mit den jungen Studierenden zusammen. Spezielle
Veranstaltungen sowie selbstorganisierte und selbstgeleitete Arbeitsgemeinschaften, die ausschließlich den
Teilnehmenden des Programms vorbehalten sind, ergänzen das breite Angebot. Die Semestergebühr beträgt 100,- EUR. Ein formaler Studienabschluss ist in dem Programm nicht möglich.Die Informationsveranstaltung soll einen Überblick über die Möglichkeiten, das Konzept von "Studieren ab 50" und den Einstieg ins Programm
