This class is designed to analyse and compare four classic novels about India in the twentieth century: two written in the first half of the century by British authors referring to Colonial India, the other two by Indian authors after Independence. The texts will be:
Rudyard Kipling, Kim (1901)
E.M. Forster, A Passage to India (1924)
Salman Rushdie, Midnight¿s Children (1981)
Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Heat and Dust (1975)
3 CP can be earned by a presentation on one seminar theme and a written essay on that.
