In der Veranstaltung "Statistisches Praktikum" besteht für die Studierenden die Möglichkeit, ein mindestens zweiwöchiges (Forschungs-) Praktikum im Arbeitsfeld Statistik zu absolvieren, um so erste Eindrücke vom zukünftigen Arbeitsbereich gewinnen zu können. Ein anderer inhaltlicher Schwerpunkt der Veranstaltung kann die Rekonstruktion von statistischen Fallbeispielen und/oder Literaturbeispielen o.ä. im Rahmen einer Praxisstudie sein.
Ablauf: Studierende sollten vor Beginn des Praktikums bei Prof. Bauer oder Frau Dr. Westerheide nachfragen, ob das Praktikum genügend statistischen Inhalt erwarten lässt, um angerechnet zu werden. Für den Fall, dass kein Praktikumsplatz gefunden werden kann, besteht die Möglichkeit als Ersatz eine Praxisstudie anzufertigen. Details dazu sind bitte direkt bei Prof. Bauer erfragen.
Lehrinhalt der Veranstaltung "Statistisches Projekt" kann insbesondere eine statistische Beratung (Statistical Consulting) sein. Hier bietet sich für Studierende die Möglichkeit, zusammen mit erfahrenen Wissenschaftlern konkrete Beratungsfälle zu betreuen und auszuwerten. Dabei sollen die Studierenden Anwender und Nicht-Statistiker bei empirischen Fragestellungen betreuen und beraten und, soweit zeitlich und fachlich möglich, passende statistische Auswertungen eigenständig durchführen. Auch andere Inhalte sind denkbar. Der inhaltliche Fokus aller Veranstaltungen liegt immer in der praktischen Arbeit mit konkreten Problemstellungen und Daten, d.h. eine selbstständige Durchführung einer statistischen Auswertung und die anschließende Präsentation der Ergebnisse sind Inhalte aller möglichen Veranstaltungen.
