Die Begegnung mit fremden Kulturen ist allgegenwärtig. Zu fragen ist, was sich da begegnet (oder auch nicht) und wie das jeweils geschieht. Antworten sucht dieses Seminar über die Auseinandersetzung mit literarischen und theoretischen Texten von Ilija Trojanow. Der in Bulgarien gebürtige, lange Zeit in Indien und Afrika lebende, in deutscher Sprache schreibende Autor hat nicht nur mit seinem Roman „Der Weltensammler“ einen modernen ‚Klassiker’ interkultureller deutscher Literatur geschrieben, sondern er engagiert sich politisch und kulturell auf vielfältige Weise für einen Austausch oder ‚Zusammenfluss’ der Kulturen. Ausgehend von seinen Texten sollen sowohl die aktuellen theoretischen und intellektuellen Debatten erschlossen wie die Erzählverfahren und Schreibweisen analysiert werden.
