Die Fähigkeit zur Kontrolle komplexer, kontextabhängiger Verhaltensweisen setzt voraus, dass das Zentralnervensystem den Möglichkeiten und Gren-zen des eigenen Körpers sowie den Anforderungen der natürlichen Umwelt gerecht wird. Das Modul „Bewegung und Verhalten“ stellt die Steuerung undRegelung von Bewegung in das Zentrum der Verhaltenskontrolle. Insbesondere die Eigenschaften von Gliedmaßen sowie deren Rolle bei Lokomo-tion, Manipulation, Kommunikation und aktiver Sensorik werden behandelt und in einfachen Experimenten untersucht. Dabei werden die hierfür nötigen biomechanischen, neurobiologischen, systemtheoretischen und kognitiven Grundlagen behandelt. Die wichtigsten Aspekte von Bewegungsabläufen, die im Kurs behandelt werden sind: (1) Skelett, Muskeln, Innervation und die damit zusammenhängenden, mechanischen und neuromuskulären Rah-menbedingungen von Bewegungssteuerung; (2) Gelenke, Kinematik und die drei Stellgrößen Position, Geschwindigkeit und Steifigkeit; (3) Freiheitsgrade der Bewegung und deren Koordination in Form von Kopplungen, Synergien oder Bewegungsprimitiven; (4) Zentrale Mustergeneratoren und Rhythmogenese; (5) Sensorische Rückkopplung und Regelung von Bewegung; (6) Verhaltenskontext, Verhaltensübergänge und die Verkettung ver-schiedener Bewegungsmuster zu komplexen Handlungen.
