In unserem kulturellen Gedächtnis spielt die nationalsozialistische Diktatur eine zentrale Rolle; sie ist gewissermaßen ein Fixpunkt für unsere historische Identität. Die Literatur, die in dieser Zeit in Deutschland entstanden ist, spielt dagegen kaum mehr eine Rolle. Wir lesen vielmehr die Werke der Autor*innen des Exils (Bertolt Brecht, Thomas Mann, Anna Seghers u.a.) und vielleicht noch der ‚Inneren Emigration‘. Daran wird dieses Seminar nichts ändern. Es will vielmehr über die Bedingungen aufklären, unter denen im NS-Regime Literatur produziert, distribuiert und rezipiert und welche in der kulturellen Tradition verankerten ideologische Konzepte mit ihr verbreitet wurden. Anhand ausgewählter Texte soll diskutiert werden, wie die Literatur auf diese politischen Voraussetzungen reagiert hat und wie sie die politischen Verhältnisse reflektiert hat.
