Bilder und Texte sind immer auch materielle Gegenstände. So wenig ein Bild von seinem Bildvehikel (wie beispielsweise einem hölzernen Altaraufsatz) zu trennen ist, so ist auch der Text von seinem Textträger (wie etwa dem gebundenen Buch) nicht abzulösen. Der Umgang mit materiellen Bildern und Texten impliziert damit zugleich die je spezifischen Operationen des Auf-, Zu- und Einfaltens, des Aufeinanderfaltens, Entfaltens, Aufklappens und Verschließens. Dies sind Operationen, die das Gegebene verwandeln und neue Sinn- und Bedeutungsebenen aufscheinen lassen. Das Seminar wird sich an einem breiten Spektrum von Gegenständen den vielfältigen Medienpraktiken des Blätterns, Faltens und Klappens widmen und danach fragen, welche Möglichkeiten der Mobilisierung von Räumlichkeit, welche Inszenierungsmöglichkeiten des Verbergens und Entbergens, welche Sichtbar- und Unsichtbarmachungen und welche Verkehrungen von Innen und Außen damit ermöglicht werden.
