Vor fünfzig Jahren, am 26. März 1957, starb der Regisseur Max Ophüls, dessen Filme und Hörspiele stark von der Literatur geprägt waren. Seine in Deutschland, Frankreich und den USA entstandenen Verfilmungen klassischer und moderner Literatur hat er als "internationalen Dienst am Dichter" bezeichnet. Projekte, die er nicht als Film realisieren konnte, hat er als Hörspiele inszeniert, die von der Kritik als "Hörfilme" bezeichnet wurden.
Seine Literaturverfilmungen und Hörfilme nach Werken von Arthur Schnitzler, J.W. Goethe und Stefan Zweig sollen eingehend analysiert werden.

Voraussetzung: Teilnahme an der Vorlesung "Einführung in die Medienanalyse"
