Die Bildungskultur um 1900 war von einer grundlegenden Erkenntniskrise gekennzeichnet, die sich insbesondere als Subjekt- und Sprachkrise auch in der Dichtung der Zeit ausprägte. Wir wollen uns im Seminar ausführlich mit einigen exemplarischen Texten von Friedrich Nietzsche, Ernst Mach, Fritz Mauthner, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Christian Morgenstern, Robert Musil und Rainer Maria Rilke befassen und dabei die zeiteigenen Problemformulierungen sowie die dichterischen Konsequenzen detailliert nachvollziehen. Außerdem soll ein Blick auf den größeren literaturgeschichtlichen Rahmen geworfen werden, indem wir uns die Entwicklung des dichterischen Sprachverhältnisses vom Realismus bis zur Neuen Sachlichkeit anhand ausgewählter Beispieltexte vor Augen führen
