Zur Realisierung von Protest und zur besseren Mobilisierung suchen Akteur*innen sozialer Bewegungen in der Regel Mitstreiter*innen und schmieden Koalitionen, die sich entweder innerhalb einer sozialen Bewegung konstituieren oder darüber hinaus gehend von Kooperation mit anderen sozialen Bewegungen oder anderen gesellschaftlichen Akteur*innen zeugen. Um die Koalitionsarbeit bzw. außerparlamentarische Bündnispolitik zu ergründen, verfolgt das Seminar drei Schwerpunkte: Erstens werden wir die zentralen Begriffe der Koalition und der sozialen Bewegung diskutieren und klären. Hierfür beschäftigen wir uns sowohl mit strategisch gelagerten Konzepten aus der Protest- und Bewegungsforschung wie auch normativen Bündnisvisionen – etwa aus postmigrantischer Perspektive anhand der Sammlungsbewegung #unteilbar.
Zweitens widmen wir uns dem Variationsreichtum von Koalitionsarbeit und arbeiten aus empirischen Studien die Befunde zu den entscheidenden Einflussfaktoren und Bedingungen – Ressourcen, soziale Netzwerke, politische Gelegenheitsfenster und framing/kollektive Identität – heraus, welche einzeln oder in der Kombination zum Gelingen oder Scheitern von Bündnissen beitragen (können). Drittens beleuchten wir vor dem Hintergrund des gewonnenen Wissens konkrete Fallbeispiele (z.B. rechte Bewegungen, Friedensproteste), die die Teilnehmer*innen mithilfe der gewonnenen Erkenntnisse selbst bearbeiten und im Seminar vorstellen werden. Die Bereitschaft zum Lesen der überwiegend englischen Texte ist unabdingbare Voraussetzung für das Seminar.
