FOCUS 1: SPEAKING
One aim of this course is for you to speak as much as possible about social science topics. Active use of spoken English will be practiced intensively:asking, explaining, arguing and discussing. You will be helped with vocabulary you need.
FOCUS 2: VOCABULARY
Technical terms in short texts and extracts from some selected areas in the social sciences will be introduced and put into context. Particular attention will be given to items which present difficulties, such as theoretical terms and concepts.
FOCUS 3: YOUR INTERESTS
You will be encouraged to speak about areas you find interesting and give inputs on topics you know something about. The other students can then ask you questions, comment and widen the focus.
Students are invited to send me emails at: soelve.skorge@uni-bielefeld.de, stating particular areas of interest or difficulties (languagewise) as well as other suggestions for the course. I will work these into the design of the course as far as this is practicable.
A course outline will be presented at the beginning of the course.
Successful completion of a C-Test of the Language Center (for dates please see https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/einrichtungen/fsz/tests_and_certs/placement/)
Students who do not meet these requirements can ask the teacher for individual assessment.
Wichtige Info!!! Die Sprachprüfung muss vor dem 31.03.2022 abgelegt werden. Nach diesem Datum ist es nicht mehr möglich, den Sprachtest abzulegen!
