230186 Cicero, Briefe (S) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

Anhand einer Auswahl der über 900 Briefe, die aus der Feder Ciceros stammen und die auf uns gekommen sind, wollen wir folgende Themen beleuchten und diskutieren: die Krise der Republik und Ciceros Interpretation dieser Krise, Ciceros Bild einiger Persönlichkeiten der römischen Politik sowie Ciceros Reflexion seines eigenen Handelns. Dabei werden wir den Fokus auf die besonderen Gesprächs- und Rollenmuster lenken, die in den Briefen ersichtlich werden.
In einem zweiten Schritt sollen die Briefe vor dem Hintergrund der Epistolographie der ausgehenden Republik interpretiert werden.
