In der Übung werden anhand ausgewählter Texte aus der deutschen, englischen, französischen und US-amerikanischen Forschung neuere Ansätze in der Erforschung internationaler, transnationaler und kolonialer Beziehungen diskutiert. Dabei geht es um kulturgeschichtliche Fragestellungen im weitesten Sinne in einem Themenbereich, der lange als die Analyse eines Funktionsbereiches galt, in dem solche Aspekte keine Rolle spielen würden. Thematisch kann es z.B. um die Themenkomplexe Krieg, Grenze, Kolonialismus, Imperialismus oder Globalisierung gehen
