The aim of this project is to examine the possibilities of temporal convolutional neural networks with recently developed tactile sensors. In interaction scenarios, the sense of touch plays an important role. When a human grasps and holds on to an object, visual information becomes a secondary modality, since the object is mostly occluded by the manipulator. The goal of this project is to examine if the contact state, for example if it is stable or falling out of the manipulator, can be determined by means of neural networks.
In case the proposal would not attract enough students for a team project, it can be adapted into an individual project or a project for two students (tandem project).

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
