Die sprachliche Entwicklung ist einer der bedeutsamsten sozial-kognitiven Meilensteine in der frühen Kindheit. Und da sich die Gedanken und kognitiven Fähigkeiten von Kindern überwiegend (vor-)sprachlich äußern, ist die Sprachentwicklung wie ein Fenster in den kindlichen Geist. Dieser ¿Fensterausblick¿ ist vor allem bei Kindern mit einer geistigen Behinderung eine wichtige Informationsquelle, um ihre Fähigkeiten und die damit einhergehenden Förderbedürfnisse individuell angemessen einschätzen zu können.

Im Seminar werden die Sprachentwicklungsverläufe von Kindern mit unterschiedlichen geistigen Behinderungen (z.B. Down-Syndrom, Autismus, Williams-Beuren-Syndrom) vorgestellt. Darüber hinaus wird ein diagnostisches Gesamtkonzept zur Erfassung der Sprachfähigkeiten vorgestellt und auf der Grundlage von Fall-Profilen werden theoriegeleitete Interventionsmaßnahmen diskutiert.
