2002 hat der Germanist Moritz Baßler in seinem äußerst erfolgreichen Buch Der deutsche Pop-Roman: Die neuen Archivisten den Versuch unternommen, die neue deutsche Pop-Literatur literaturgeschichtlich und literaturtheoretisch systematisch zu verorten. Mittlerweile besteht Konsens dahingehend, daß die Pop-Literatur nicht nur auf Grund ihrer saisonalen Achtungserfolge als ein Phänomen eigenen Rechts anzuerkennen ist - zumeist allerdings wird bemängelt, daß diesen Texten "die Grundierung mit jener Notwendigkeit mangelt, aus der dauerhafte Literatur erst entsteht". In dem Seminar soll genau an diese Fragestellung angeschlossen werden.

Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre (Soloalbum, Livealbum, Remix)
Matthias Politycki (Kalbfleisch mit Reis!)
Florian Illlies (Generation Golf)
Judith Hermann (Sommerhaus, später)
Thomas Brussig (Helden wie wir)Gleichzeitig soll in dem Seminar die insbesondere in den Feuilletons der Zeit und der FAZ geführte und immer noch anhaltende Debatte um das Wesen und den Anspruch der (sogenannten) neuen deutschen Pop-Literatur rekonstruiert werden.
