Mit anderen Menschen sprechen und ihnen zuhören ist etwas, das wir im Alltag so regelmäßig und routiniert tun, das uns oft gar nicht auffällt, was wir dabei eigentlich tun. Wir beschäftigen uns im Seminar mit der Frage, wie sich Sprechen und Zuhören – in Abgrenzung von ihren schriftlichen „Gegenstücken“, dem Lesen und Schreiben – linguistisch beschreiben lassen. Wir fragen außerdem nach den besonderen Bedingungen, die sich mit dem Eintritt in die Schule ergeben: Auch wenn Kinder zum Zeitpunkt ihrer Einschulung bereits sprechen und zuhören können (und es nicht erst lernen müssen, wie das Lesen oder Schreiben), so gelten im institutionellen Kontext andere Anforderungen. Erwartet werden eine regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme an den Sitzungen und die Vorbereitung der Kursliteratur.
Es wird dringend empfohlen, die Einführung in die germanistische Linguistik als nötige Vorkenntnis bereits absolviert zu haben. Die Inhalte der Einführungsvorlesung werden als bekannt vorausgesetzt.
