220103 Ein Bild vom Holocaust? Perspektiven aus der Bildwissenschaft (GST+S) (WiSe 2017/2018)

Zweifel und Verbote gegenüber künstlerischen Darstellungen des Holocausts sind oftmals ausgesprochen worden. Dennoch treten uns in der Bildenden Kunst, im Film, im Mahnmal und in Gedenkstätten zahlreiche Bilder vom Holocaust entgegen. Ausgehend von einem weiten Bildbegriff werden wir im Seminar unterschiedliche Bilder vom Holocaust vor dem Hintergrund verschiedener bildwissenschaftlicher Ansätze analysieren. Die Diskussion um Bilder vom Holocaust ist dabei aufs engste mit einer Kernfrage der Bildwissenschaft nach den Bedingungen und Effekten von Darstellung und Sichtbarkeit verbunden. Wer darf (sich) ein Bild machen? Dienen Bilder einem puren Ästhetizismus? Ermöglichen Bilder Kritik und Einflussnahme? Welche Rolle spielen Bilder in der Erinnerungspolitik?
