231159 Nobel Peace Prize lectures (StGr) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

In this student-led study group, we will be analyzing Nobel Peace Prize lectures with regard to content, stylistic devices, and their historical and socio-political context. We will work with the texts of the speeches while also watching and listening to selected audio and video material, paying close attention to how the laureates’ messages are conveyed through paralinguistic and non-verbal cues. Not only will we gain insight into the rhetorical strategies and performative elements of these influential speeches, but we will also explore the broader global issues and historical events that shaped them.

Throughout the block seminar, we will discuss our findings as a full group, as well as work individually and in smaller groups to deepen our understanding of the material.
