will involve practical sessions at a school

Contents, comment

This seminar prepares for and accompanies the 'Berufsfeldbezogene Praxisstudie' (BPSt) in the course of your English studies. It can only be taken in the context of the BPSt and is obligatory for this practical. The course aims to provide you with the basics you need to support your groups of pupils: diagnostic testing, basics of lesson planning, material design, classroom management and differentiation, providing feedback, … At the end of the semester, you will be expected to hand in a final report, usually a case study on the project work.

In English, the BPSt involves a cooperation project with different schools. The seminar prepares for a placement at these schools, which will take place once a week during the term. In the school placement, you will mostly be supervising groups of pupils in the form of project work. Depending on the group of pupils, this can e.g. involve helping students with special needs or low L2 proficiency.
The time of the bi-weekly Begleitseminar depends on the cooperation school you choose to work with:
- The Begleitseminar taught by Sandra Winkelmann (Ceciliengymnasium, Martin-Niemöller-Gesamtschule, Oberstufenkolleg) takes place every second Friday 12-14 c.t., in presence on campus.
- The Begleitseminar taught by Jana Schwengelbeck (Luisenschule) is still t.b.a.

In a nutshell:
- one obligatory kick-off session shortly after lecture period of WS24/25
- two-day obligatory block seminar as a preparation BEFORE the practical on Fri and Sat 28. & 29.3.25
- weekly course at a partner school in Bielefeld AFTER the preparatory seminars
- regular seminars accompanying the practical
- final report
