Die Vorlesung behandelt im Wintersemester die Grundlagen menschlicher und tierischer Lern- und Gedächtnisprozesse aus ger Perspektive verschiedener historischer Ansätze der Psychologie (Behaviorisimus, kognitive Psychologie, evolutionäre Psychologie und Biopsychologie).

Die Veranstaltung richtet sich vor allem an Studierende des Bachelorstudiengangs Psychologie im Hauptfach im ersten Semester. Die Vorlesung ist der erste Teil des zweisemestrigen Zyklus Allgemeine Psychologie II und ist prinzipiell auch für interessierte Nebenfachstudierende geeignet. Die Veranstaltung ist eine Vorlesung. Die vorherrschende „Lernform“ ist entsprechend aktives Zuhören. Am Ende der Sitzung werden einige (i.d.R. 3-6) Fragen präsentiert, deren regelmäßige Bearbeitung dazu dient, die Inhalte zu wiederholen und im Hinblick auf die Prüfung einzuüben.
