- Die Veranstaltung findet als Hybrid-Veranstaltung statt (mit sowohl synchronen als auch asynchronen Elementen).

Cicero schrieb im Jahre 46 v. Chr. den Dialog De natura deorum, in dem er einen Redner (Velleius) für eine epikureische Göttervorstellung und einen zweiten Redner (Balbus) für eine stoische Göttervorstellung argumentieren lässt. Beide werden von dem dritten Gesprächspartner Cotta widerlegt. Welcher Götterlehre soll man vor diesem Hintergrund folgen? Mit dieser Frage lässt Cicero die Leser:innen allein, gibt aber Hinweise zu ihrer Beantwortung.

Im Seminar werden wir uns in den Text und die neueste Forschungsliteratur einlesen und gemeinsam zentrale Fragestellungen diskutieren.
