Die Vorlesung ist für Studierende der ersten Semester und ExamenskandidatInnen gedacht. Sie bietet einen Einblick in die atl. Wissenschaft und einen Überblick zum atl. Wissen.
Am Anfang steht eine Einführung in die fachwissenschaftliche Fragestellung und Methodik. Dann folgt eine Darstellung der Realia (Geographie, Klima, Fauna, Flora etc) und ein Überblick zur Geschichte Israels. Als nächstes Thema wird dann die Entstehung der atl. Schriften und ihrer Überlieferung sowie die Kanonbildung behandelt.
Den letzten Schwerpunkt bildet das Verhältnis von AT und NT und die spezifische Bedeutung des AT für den christlichen Glauben. In diesem Teil der Vorlesung werden für das christliche Selbstverständnis zentrale atl. Texte ausgelegt und ihre Aufnahme in den ntl Schriften verfolgt.
Hebräischkenntnisse werden nicht vorausgesetzt.
Die Lektüre je eines historischen und prophetischen atl. Buches in den Ferien ist empfehlenswert (z.B. 1. und 2. Kön und Hosea).
