000006 Altorientalische Bilder - Mit Exkursion in das Britische Museum London (S) (SoSe 2007)

Die in der israelitischen Geschichte spät auftretende Bilderfeindlichkeit, die theologische Ursachen hat, führte dazu, dass aus alttestamentlicher Zeit keine Großplastiken erhalten geblieben sind. Doch haben archäologische Kleinfunde wie Siegel und Figurinen gezeigt, daß Bilder in der altisraelitischen Religion eine wichtige Rolle gespielt haben.
Israel ist Teil der altorientalischen Welt. Eine angemessene Rekonstruktion der Religionsgeschichte und Sozialgeschichte Israels ist nur möglich, wenn die altorientalischen Bildwerke als eigene Quelle neben der Textüberlieferung herangezogen werden.

Das Seminar soll einen Überblick zur reichen Bildtradition des Alten Orients vermitteln. Nach einer Einführung in die Ikonographie sollen die regional unterschiedlichen Bildtraditionen erarbeitet werden. Ein Teil der Referate wird vor Ort im Museum gehalten werden.

Das Seminar ist eine Kombination von Einzelsitzungen und Blockveranstaltung, die vom 25.-29.Juli 2007 im British Museum in London stattfindet. Die erste Vorbereitungssitzung findet am 20. April statt. Weitere Sitzungen im 14tägigen Rhythmus folgen.

Bis zum 1.Mai ist eine verbindliche Anmeldung für die Exkursion erforderlich, damit der Flug und die Unterkunft gebucht werden können.
GasthörerInnen können an der Exkursion teilnehmen, sofern Plätze frei bleiben.
