Gegenstand der Exegesen sind ausgewählte Kapitel des unter dem Namen des Propheten Jeremia kanonisierten Buches. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird dabei der Position des Kleinstaates Juda im internationalen Geschehen seiner Zeit gewidmet werden.
Im Zentrum der Exegesen stehen die Kapitel 1-36 und die Frage nach dem aus der Perspektive Jeremias angemessenen Verhaltens Israels, da alle überlieferten Lebenshaltungen und religiösen Traditionen fragwürdig zu werden scheinen. Die verschiedenen Argumentationsebenen des kanonischen Textes (biografisch, historisch, theologisch, soziologisch) sollen erörtert werden.

Vorbereitung:
Lektüre des Buches Jeremia unter Zuhilfenahme einer Bibelkunde. Lektüre von J.A. Soggin, Einführung in die Geschichte Israels und Judas. Von den Ursprüngen bis zum Aufstand Bar Kochbas. Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft Darmstadt 1991, Kap. 11 Das Königreich Juda bis zum Exil, S.164-187. (zur Anschaffung empfohlen, WB-Preis 22,90)
